Trains are the fastest way to travel around the UK, especially for long trips. When traveling by train, you can enjoy the green British countryside through the window and have a picnic during the trip. Traveling by train is a green, picturesque and relaxing way to discover Great Britain. The country's railway network covers entire areas of Great Britain, with more than 2000 stations serving England, Scotland and Wales.
It's an easy and efficient way to travel, as there are different train companies that serve different parts. You can plan your trip using websites like Trainline, and before you know it, you could be in Brighton or Scotland or just about anywhere else. The length of the trip isn't too expensive either: hop on a train in London and you'll be in Scotland in four hours. If you're looking for ideas, there are plenty of articles to read on this blog, including my definitive list of places to visit in the UK, which includes 100 places to visit and is a great starting point for planning.
This is important if you want to basically avoid annoying the entire population of London. Stay to the right so that those who are fittest, the youngest, or those who arrive late can run at 100 miles per hour. If temperatures rise above 16 degrees (you expect to see people wearing t-shirts and shorts) and above 23, it's a heat wave and people will tell you a million times a day that it's too hot. Most days you'll need it.
Tipping is voluntary in most places in England. If you want to leave a tip for good service at a restaurant, the general rule is to give a 10% tip. Sometimes you'll notice that a 10% service fee has already been added. If this is the case, no tip will be expected.
I traveled alone in my 20s, as a single mother in my 30s, with my husband and daughter at 40 and now at 50 like an empty nest. If you are looking for the cheapest way to travel around the United Kingdom, we recommend Megabus. Their buses travel all over Great Britain and there are constant promotions on the sale of 1-pound tickets. If you know where you want to go three or four weeks in advance, these tickets allow you to travel, practically free.
Megabus also goes to Edinburgh and Glasgow for less than 10 pounds, meaning it's cheaper than the train, but it's also a much longer trip (usually a night bus or an all-day trip). For shorter distances, such as Oxford, two hours away, Megabus is a great option. On a positive note, the UK's public transport system is quite good and I would recommend travelling by train if you can. If you're traveling to London for the first time, you might also be wondering how to start planning your visit to make the most of your stay in the country's capital.
Find out my tips and the most important things to know in my “Tips for first-time visitors to London” section. In fact, I've lived and worked in London, so I have a lot of insider information and experience. I drew on my experiences traveling here to organize my perfect two-week trip to the UK and help you plan your own trip. So it really depends on your personal travel style and your preferences, as well as who you're traveling with.
To help you afford a trip like this, I have included in a post a guide on the costs of traveling around the United Kingdom, which should serve as a guide for you ????. So any advice I offer you is based on what friends and other readers have shared with us about the logistics of traveling with a young person. In this blog, I share a lifetime of travel knowledge and experiences to help you travel the world country (and travel by train) at the same time. They are very close to each other, my only advice is to avoid traveling during rush hour (16:00 to 18:00), since traffic will prolong the trip a lot.
Four women from Texas will travel to the UK in September and they wanted to drive (one of us is brave enough to drive on the wrong side of the road). There's no doubt that it's safe to take a road trip from London to Wales, of course, I can't guarantee your safety, but it's no less safe than traveling anywhere else in the UK ????.
