Pack an additional base coat. Bring an extra sleeping mat. Lay out layers of your sleeping bag. Choose the right size for your tent.
Fight condensation inside your tent with adequate ventilation. Wear a balaclava to sleep. A safer option, but only suitable for those camping with an EHU, is to choose a plug-in electric heater designed specifically for camping, such as the Kampa Cuboid or the Kampa Diddy. If you've ever been camping for a month that isn't the hottest of your weather, you know that it can be a little chilly at night.
Look for a pad with a higher temperature index when you buy one, as this will provide you with greater insulation from the cold floor. When camping in the winter, I also wear a hoodie with a zipper on the top of my pajamas, along with a pair of thick merino wool socks. It's a high-quality sleeping bag for the whole year, which is the warmest I've ever used, since it keeps me so warm that I have to take off several layers even when camping when it's as cold as zero degrees. No matter what type of shelter you choose to sleep in while camping, make sure you have enough comfortable layers and blankets to stay comfortable throughout the night. Camping when it's cold can be a whole different challenge than staying cool when it's hot, but with a little preparation and knowledge, you can stay warm and comfortable in your tent. Soups, stews, chili, and other single-pot foods are ideal for camping trips, as they can be cooked over a small stove or camping fire. During the summer in the UK it can still be cold during the night.
Don't assume that since it's July you'll only need a sleeping bag, always carry a few extra blankets just in case, especially if you have small people.
